Colours of Life - Thumbprints in Time

Colours of life all came alive as art lovers all over the city came in large numbers to Cancer Patients Aid Association's Annual Art Exhibition. This year's collection 'Thumbprints in Time' boasts of participation from over a 100 senior Indian Artists from all over India and overseas, who donated their works to help raise funds for the treatment of childhood cancer patients. The uniqueness of this year's exhibition was the contribution of 20 senior Bengal school artists who are otherwise rarely seen in Mumbai. The beautiful creations of these artists and their unstinting support have made it possible for us to reach out to many more children than would otherwise have been possible. >>more

Novartis Plea rejected by Madras HC 
It was a sweet moment of victory for CPAA, when the Madras high court rejected a plea made by pharma giant Novartis against Section 3d of the Indian Patent Act. In 2005, Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) had kick-started the movement against the company's application to seek fresh patent protection for its life-saving drug called Glivec. On 7th August, at a press meet held to discuss the impact of the judgment, CPAA Chairman, Mr. Y K Sapru said, "We fought for the patients' rights and we are relieved that the court has ruled in our favour and recognised that patients need protection more than patents." The court ruled in favour of the patients, which meant that effective and affordable generic medicines would continue to be produced in India.  >>more
An Appeal for Rose Day Support
Come September and it's time to celebrate Rose Day, a day conceived and ear marked by Cancer Patients Aid Association to bring cheer, happiness and smiles to cancer patients all over the country. In Mumbai alone about 7000 such patients are greeted with roses, gifts, 'Get well Soon' cards etc by film stars and sports personalities at over 33 different cancer treatment centers, lodges, hospitals and dharamshalas. Entertainment programs in the form of film shows, orchestra, parties and bhajans are organized, to make this day special for all the patients. 

This year, we plan to celebrate Rose day by organizing a “Johnny Lever Show” on 21st September, 2007 at St Andrews Auditorium, Bandra from 6.00p.m onwards. Patients and survivors will be the special invitees for the show. In order to cover the major expenses like hall booking, stage, lights, sound, musician fee and miscellaneous expenses, we request you to kindly consider sponsoring the above show.
