More, Director (Prevention & Early Detection) attended the World Conference on Breast Cancer in Winnipeg,
Canada. They presented papers on 'Promoting Early Detection of Breast Cancer
in India' and 'Reaching the Hard to Find'.
The conference was a unique opportunity to meet other NGOs, researchers, activists and most importantly, breast cancer survivors and share experiences. The photograph on the left shows Dr. Maudgal with participants from Kenya, Canada and Australia. Call of the Peacock Exhibition : Colours of Life-IV : CPAA is organizing its fourth annual Art Exhibition & Sale 'Colours of Life-IV' at the Cymroza Art Gallery, 72, Bhulabhai Desai Road, Mumbai-40002, between 2nd and 9th August, 2008. 70 artists have donated their works to help raise funds for the treatment of childhood cancer patients. This year’s exhibition is curated by Piali Syam, who has an impeccable grounding in art and is a graduate of Government College of Art and Craft Kolkata. The theme this year is ‘Wings of Hope’.
PATIENT CARE DEPARTMENT REPORT: JUNE 2008
Delhi Branch Activities : CPAA Delhi organized an awareness lecture at the Tagore International School for children from class VIII & IX on 7th & 8th May 2008. Dr. Mudit Agarwal and Dr. Anshuman from Dharamshila Hospital conducted the lectures followed by a quiz program. The students came forward with their opinions and comments on the 'Ill Effects of tobacco'. It was heartening to note that these children came out with strong opinions against the use of tobacco. 60 childhood cancer patients were given a special treat. They were taken to watch the movie 'Bhootnath' on 22nd May at the Cineplex- Satyam, Nehru Place, New Delhi. This was followed by a unique Health Mela at Convergys on 26th, 27th, 28th and 30th May on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day in association with Convergys in all the three branches at Gurgaon, Mumbai and Pune. The Health Mela received an overwhelming response from the employees at Convergys. Many pledged to quit smoking while others showed a keen interest in joining CPAA in its Anti Tobacco Campaign. A quiz program on Breast cancer and effects of tobacco also received a good response from the employees. |
