The Doctors & Film Stars showed up in full force on the Match Day, 21st May 2005 at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana grounds, ready for the clash, in stunning Green & Blue outfits designed & provided especially for the event by Globus Stores. The Chief Guest of the event Commissioner of Police Mr. A. N. Roy, inaugurated the match by releasing bunches of balloons with anti-tobacco messages after captain Suniel Shetty’s team won the toss & put Dr. R. Badwe’s team to field. The Guest of Honor, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Mrs. Bhavani Thyagrajan & Ms. Vineet Gill the National Professional Officer (Tobacco Free Initiative) from World Health Organisation congratulated & encouraged the film stars for supporting the cause, reminding them of their powerful influence on the youth. Kishor with TV’s funnyman Bakhtiar Irani (aka Sharukh Batliwala) gave the audience much more than just ball-by-ball commentary. With cricket-actor Vinod Kambli & the inimitable & rib-tickling Cyrus Broacha in tow, the 5 of them were a riot in the commentator’s box. Suniel Shetty, Sohail Khan, Aftab Shivdasani, Shailendra Singh & Dr. Raut dazzled everyone with their performances. It has been our constant endeavour at Cancer Patients Aid Association, to focus on spreading awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco through programs such as these. It was heartening to see Film & TV stars, celebrities & doctors participate in this event in such large numbers to show their support & solidarity towards the cause of tobacco control.

It was possible for Cancer Patients Aid Association to organize this event due to the invaluable support of our sponsors State Bank of India, Globus Retail Stores Ltd, Sony Entertainement Television, SET MAX, Citigroup, Aditya Birla Group, Taj Lands End, Ruchi Soya Industries Limited - Nutrela, & last but not the least the entire team of FIGHT CLUB & Sohail Khan Productions. This was followed by our ENT camps at different locations in Mumbai and finally our free ENT camp at CST Station on 31st May from 10 am to 3 pm, open to all public.
