An ultimate symbol of the beauty of life, Rose Day presents you with a bouquet of opportunities to join CPAA’s campaign to bring comfort and hope to the
poor cancer patient.
Rose Day is the bridge
from hapless to hopeful...
22nd September is a day conceived and
ear-marked by Cancer Patients Aid Association since the past 14 years to
bring cheer, happiness and smiles to cancer patients all over the
country. This annual event is a gesture from the association to show its
support and care to thousands of cancer patients and their families.
It's CPAA's way of making a difference in the fight against cancer. At
the most basic level, it is a human expression to say that we care.

Looking deeper however, it's what gives
CPAA the dynamism and scope to engage itself in the very real issues of
cancer - Treatment; the prohibitive costs of cancer drugs; the lack of
awareness; the endemic proportions of Head & Neck cancers. Rose Day in
that sense is the bridge from hapless to hopeful...
Snapshots of events held for Rose Day:
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan & Akshay Kumar launched Rose Day 2010 on 16th
September at St. Andrew's Auditorium, Bandra. They danced with the brave
childhood cancer patients and gave them words of encouragement. They
adopted 20 cancer patients with a pledge to support their treatment.
Dance-master Sandeep Soparkar along-with his wife, model, Jesse Randhawa
presented a dance and musical extravaganza with their troupe on this
occasion. They also trained childhood cancer patients who performed on
stage along-with them.
Roses were distributed and special programs arranged at Gareeb Nawaz,
Noori Musafir Khana , Prince Aly Khan Center, Sion Hospital, Masina
Hospital, Nana Palkar, St. Jude's Hospital, Aasha Cancer Hospital,
Thane, Hinduja Hospital, Cama Hospital, Parsi General Hospital, Nanavati
Hospital, Boman Dhabar Center, Nair Hospital, Wadia Hospital,
Shanti Avedana Hospice, Tata Memorial Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Ernest
Borges Home, ACTREC (Kharghar) and CPAA’s Rehabilitation Centre from
17th – 24th September. A Rose Day celebration was organised for cancer
patients at ONGC wherein 80 of their employees were felicitated, on 23rd
Several schools and colleges of Mumbai, viz, Cathedral & John Connon
Middle School, St. Pauls High School, Fazlani L`Academie Global, Dadar
Parsee Youth Assembly High School (DPYA), Avabai Framji Petit Girls High
School, Rustomjee International, Bhatia High School and SIES College
actively participated in Rose day’s School fundraising drive by
collecting over Rs. 10 lakh. This year a 'Rose Day Warrior' trophy for
the highest individual collection was awarded to Mohit Chandra (DPYA
School) and Simron Sethia (Fazlani L`Academie Global), while St. Paul's
School bagged the highest school collection trophy.
Students of Rustomjee, DPYA and Pragati Kendra visited patients at the S
L Raheja and Mhaskar Hospitals and entertained them with their dance
performance. 94.3 Radio One and Artist Aloud partnered with CPAA for a
week-long celebration at different cancer treatment centers bringing joy
and happiness into the lives of cancer patients through music.

A grand celebration for over 60 childhood cancer patients and their
parents was held on 21st September in association with Imperial Hotel.
Shweta Bachchan, Designer Manish Arora and model Amanpreet Wahi joined
the children in this celebration. A lively dance and music program was
organised by the hotel team, in which
the children participated actively. The head chef created a special menu
for the children, while Mr. Vijay Wanchoo, VP and GM, Imperial Hotel,
The Lions Club joined hands with CPAA to celebrate Rose Day at the
Pediatric Ward of AIIMS hospital on 22nd September. The members visited
the patients and gave gifts and monetary contribution to CPAA to help
needy patients with chemotherapy. Shweta Bachchan was present to
celebrate the big day with CPAA. She conveyed video messages from
Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan especially for the children and spent a
lot of time distributing gifts and interacting with the children and
This year, the activities in Pune were spread over an entire week.
Visits were made to all the hospitals treating cancer, viz. Deenanath
Mangeshkar, Sahyadri, Jehangir, Inlaks and Budhrani, Cipla Palliative
Care centre, Sassoon, Command and
Ruby Hall. A rose and gift packets were distributed amongst the
patients. An entertainment programme was organised by CPAA on 20th
September at the Sun N Sand Hotel, which was attended by a large number
of cancer patients and their families.
